Thaumaturgy's HAA Operations Manual

40. Check Primary Processing

Overview

PACMAN is not 100% reliable. Avid processes in particular have been known to crash or not complete correctly.

Step by Step Walkthrough

Check Deadline for Errors

  1. Once processing has completed, check Deadline for any failed jobs. Under the "Job Reports" column should be information on the cause of any failed job.
The most common cause of issues are:
    • Hard drive space checks

All of these errors must be rectified before continuing. If you perform the exports manually, ensure that you mark the job as complete in Deadline - other jobs can depend on this status.
  2. When all jobs are marked complete, look at the Completed Jobs for any jobs with Job Reports - POSSIBLE Errors are marked here. Check these files seem correct.

Check Files for Errors

  1. Once all the checks in Deadline are completed, perform spot checks on files.
    • Open up QT's and play them - do they look correct?
    • Open up WAV's and watch the audio bar - is there audio?
    • Does the file size look correct?

If there are any errors that PACMAN did not pick up on, email your system administrator with a bug report

Update the Episode Status
